I am currently a Counseling Student Intern at Lamar University pursuing my Master's Degree in Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling, husband and father who loves life! I grew up in rural East Texas in which I cherish the importance of family. My hobbies are fishing, camping, watching my son play football and BBQ! My educational journey in graduate coursework and prior work experience in social service settings has provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge in mental health and counseling practices. I'm fully committed and honored to have the opportunity to provide effective, competent and passionate support to families, individuals and couples with identifying their roles in navigating everyday life journeys in mental health.
I'm currently engaged in graduate coursework and training on an advanced level in which I apply effective counseling approaches to support clients in meeting their goals in each of their respective mental health journeys. My studies at Lamar University have broadened my knowledge in a variety of therapeutic approaches such as solution-focused therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and family systems therapy. I'm very passionate about providing mental health awareness to all clients, specifically families who may or may not understand the importance of mental health in life. One of my main goals as an advocate for mental health is to always provide a safe, judgment-free space for all of my clients to communicate freely about their mental health journeys.
